Description of grant:

New York State recently announced $2,000,000 in funding for the Exemplary School Models and Practices grant. This funding is used to support the replication of practices that help early learners (birth to 8-years-old) either enter kindergarten ready to learn or read on grade level by 3rd grade, with an emphasis on supporting boys and young men of color.

New York State anticipates funding 10 programs, with awards of up to $200,000/year for 3 years.

Who is Eligible?

School districts and BOCES are eligible to apply to implement or grow an early learning initiative; five of these initiatives will be funded.

School districts that have demonstrated an ability to close the achievement gap between boys and young men of color and the overall state population in at least one high school are eligible to apply to replicate their practices in another district with similar demographics; five of these efforts will be funded. In both cases, selected organizations are responsible for a 15% matching requirement.
Working with VIA is also one way to fulfill the M/WBE participation goal!

If you are applying for this grant and need assistance identifying how to evaluate the success of the initiative (worth 10 points!), please contact us! Book a 30-minute consult to discuss how VIA can support your application.
