What does the Grant Development Process look like at your organization? For many, it begins with the release of an RFP for a grant program of interest, which leads to a mad dash to get everyone on board, develop a program and write a competitive proposal under a short deadline. This stressful process doesn’t end until, with great relief, the proposal (along with its pages of narrative, budget information and various attachments) is submitted. This intense Grant Writing phase of the Grant Development Process does not have to be so stressful, which is where Grant Readiness comes in.

Grant Readiness pertains to an organization’s preparedness to apply for and implement grants. Grants Development is intrinsically linked with organizational development; and Grant Readiness indicates whether or not the organization is ready to apply for a grant and implement the funded program or project. Grant Readiness is an important part of proactive grant seeking (Procurement), and is a less stressful approach that ultimately leads to better results than the “mad dash”.
