The United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, in partnership with Buffalo Public Schools, Catholic Charities of Buffalo, and many other partners, has been implementing a federal Full Service Community Schools grant in the South Zone of Buffalo. This work builds on years of Closing the Gap implementation that coordinates and links students to needed services in the community. Via Evaluation evaluates the state and federal grants supporting the South Zone community schools.

The project team won the competition to present at the federal Full Service Community Schools/Promise Neighborhood conference. The presentation focused on the South Zone, using data for student intervention, changes in numbers served and outcomes over the years, and expansion of the community schools model throughout much of the city.

Congratulations to the team for their hard work making community schools a reality in Buffalo, and for gaining national recognition for their model.
