The purpose of the longitudinal out-of-school time (OST) analysis is to provide school districts and community based-organizations that have OST programs with a multi-year analysis of all information related to student participation, including attendance levels, grades, state assessments, disciplinary incidents, and program function. This analysis may include, based upon availability, comparison performance. This project is intended for organizations that have had OST programming for at least two years. Via Evaluation will conduct the analysis of existing programs, archived programs, and student data to explore the effects of sustained participation in your OST programs. Additionally, Via Evaluation can create surveys designed to provide a more comprehensive view of the effect of sustained involvement on students. The report will present in-depth information on the intermediate and long-term results of sustained involvement in the OST programs. This knowledge will help your organization understand the impact the OST programs have had on students, as well as highlight program areas that may require additional focus.
1. Does sustained, continuous involvement in OST programs contribute to improved grades or state assessment scores, better attendance rate, or fewer incidents of disciplinary action?
2. Does the quality or focus of the OST program have an effect on any of these outputs and outcomes?
3. Is involvement in OST programs related to improved work habits, social skills, and interpersonal behavior, or reduced involvement in risky behaviors?
