Shontay joined the Via Evaluation team as a research associate in 2019. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Health & Human Services as well as her M.A. in Psychology from State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. She has experience with a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research topics including psychopathology, adolescent development, and healthcare education.
Before joining Via, Shontay worked in multiple labs performing data collection, analysis, and reporting. The populations ranged from clinical samples to adolescents in the community to current dental students. Shontay also has acted as a research mentor as part of a committee within a dental office to encourage continued education among practitioners. In addition to her experience with research, Shontay interned with programs related to the legal system. She performed case management with the Buffalo COURTS Program as well as assisted with mental health treatment at Erie County Forensic Mental Health Services.
Shontay plans to further her evaluation skills through reading relevant literature, participation in American Evaluation Association activities, and training at The Evaluators’ Institute.
